Bratislava Airport (BTS)
Slovakia's main international airport, just 9 km from Bratislava's Old Town. A single-terminal, low-cost gateway served by Ryanair and Wizz Air, and around 45 minutes from Vienna Airport.
The airport
Bratislava Airport in brief
M. R. Štefánik Airport (BTS) is Slovakia’s largest international airport, located just 9 km from Bratislava city centre. Its direct connection to the D1 motorway makes it particularly convenient for groups travelling north to Trnava, Trenčín, Žilina and the High Tatras — without coaches having to cross the city centre.
Bratislava is a convenient low-cost gateway to Slovakia and an attractive alternative to Vienna Airport, serving a wider Central European catchment. Ryanair, Wizz Air and Smartwings operate from BTS, with direct connections to key markets across the UK, Italy, Spain and Germany, as well as Scandinavia and Switzerland. Key routes include London, Manchester, Edinburgh, Milan, Rome, Barcelona, Málaga, Berlin, Dortmund, Oslo and Basel.
There are no scheduled long-haul services from Bratislava. Intercontinental connectivity is limited to seasonal charter flights.
For tour operators and DMCs, Bratislava Airport offers a practical gateway for programmes across Slovakia, Vienna, Budapest and Central Europe — with short transfer times into Bratislava and direct motorway access for groups heading beyond the capital.
Group handling
Group handling at Bratislava Airport
BTS is straightforward to handle for groups. The airport has one main terminal complex, with check-in and the arrivals hall in Terminal A and a separate Terminal B for non-Schengen traffic, including UK flights.
Our representative can meet the group at the arrivals exit with a name board, while the coach can wait directly in front of the terminal for loading. The airport allows up to 15 minutes for loading, with a dedicated P TRANZIT lane for buses re-entering the terminal area within the hour. There is no separate coach parking area at the airport.
Bratislava city centre is only around 20 minutes by coach from the airport, making BTS particularly convenient for groups staying in Bratislava or continuing directly into Slovakia.
For departures, we normally plan the group’s coach transfer around the airport’s recommended two-hour pre-flight arrival time.

Bratislava or Vienna?
For groups arriving on Ryanair or Wizz Air, Bratislava is often the most convenient gateway to Slovakia. For long-haul and traditional network carriers, Vienna offers a wider choice of connections and is only around 45 minutes from Bratislava by road.
The two airports also work well together for open-jaw programmes. We can arrange arrivals through one airport and departures through the other, coordinating private transfers and coaches throughout the programme.
