The tour

What this tour is

Bratislava sits where Hungary, Austria and what is now Czechia meet, and its cooking shows it. This tour uses that: the same old-town landmarks as the standard walk, with three tasting stops along the way and a guide who explains the food as well as the buildings.

The first stop is langoš, the fried flatbread eaten across the whole of the former Hungarian Kingdom, usually with cheese and ketchup or with garlic and sour cream. The second is bryndzové halušky — potato dumplings with sheep’s cheese and bacon, which is the Slovak national dish and not a tourist invention. The last is a café, for a Bratislava roll, the poppy-seed or walnut pastry the city is named for, with a glass of wine from the Small Carpathian route.

The licensed guide and all three tasting stops are included; hotel drop-off is not. It runs daily at three in the afternoon. The same tour runs for individual travellers under our retail brand as the culinary tour of Bratislava.
