The tour

What this tour is

Svätý Jur is thirty to forty-five minutes from the centre of Bratislava, on the slopes of the Small Carpathians, and it has been making wine since the Middle Ages. This tour goes to one family winery there — one that works its own vineyards and makes organic wine without adding chemicals — and sits the clients down in it.

Five local wines are served with a traditional Slovak wine snack of cheese, bacon and salami. The point of the evening is the conversation as much as the glass: the clients are in a working winery with the people who run it, not in a tasting room built for visitors. The driver-guide stays with the party throughout and explains Slovak wine culture on the way out.

It runs daily at half past five, all year, with hotel pick-up and drop-off included. For a full afternoon across the whole wine route rather than one winery, the Small Carpathian wine tour covers Červený Kameň, Modra and Pezinok as well. The same tasting runs for individual travellers under our retail brand as the organic wine tasting in Bratislava.
