The airport

Budapest Airport in brief

Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD), still known locally as “Ferihegy”, is Hungary’s largest airport, located around 16 km south-east of the city centre. All commercial flights operate from Terminal 2, with Terminals 2A and 2B connected by the central SkyCourt.

Budapest has a strong low-cost network, with Wizz Air and Ryanair offering extensive European connectivity, alongside a broad range of traditional network carriers and long-haul services. This makes BUD a particularly useful gateway for groups arriving from markets not directly served by Bratislava or Košice.

For tour operators and DMCs, Budapest works well as an alternative gateway to Slovakia, especially for programmes combining Budapest with Southern or Eastern Slovakia. It can also be used for open-jaw programmes, with arrivals through Budapest and departures from Vienna, Bratislava or Košice.

Group handling

Handling a group at BUD

Budapest Airport is well equipped for group arrivals. Coaches use the dedicated Bus Terminal directly in front of Terminal 2, with a covered walkway connecting it to the terminal. Our name-board representative meets the group inside the relevant arrivals hall, while the coach waits nearby for loading.

Budapest city centre is around 20–30 minutes from the airport, depending on traffic. The motorway network also provides a convenient route towards Slovakia, with Bratislava and Southern Slovakia accessible by road and Košice approximately three hours away.

Choosing the gateway

Which airport for your programme?

Choose BUD when the group is starting in Budapest, when a suitable direct flight is available, or when the programme combines Hungary with Slovakia.

Vienna is often the stronger choice for long-haul connectivity and programmes centred on Bratislava and Western Slovakia, while Košice is the most convenient gateway when the itinerary focuses on Eastern Slovakia.

We arrange name-board meet & greet, coaches, private transfers and the full ground programme from BUD at net rates — including open-jaw routings via Budapest, Vienna, Bratislava or Košice.
