The excursion
What this day is
The short evening walk, and the easiest way to give a group something to do on an arrival night without committing the whole evening. It is a different Bratislava after dark, and the route is built around the two best views rather than around monuments.
It starts with the climb to the floodlit castle for the view over the city and across the Danube into Austria, comes back down through the lit streets of the old town, then crosses the river to the UFO, the observation deck on top of the SNP Bridge, for the view back at the castle from the opposite bank.

Meeting at the hotel
The guide meets the group at the main entrance of the Park Inn by Radisson Danube hotel, or at your own hotel in the city centre.
Up to the castle
The walk up the hill to Bratislava Castle, the strategic site above the Danube settled since Celtic and Great Moravian times, and the venue of the Bush–Putin summit in February 2005. Floodlit at night, with the view over the city and into Austria.
Down through the old town
Back down through the historic streets to the Slovak National Theatre opera house and the Reduta.
Across the Danube to the UFO
Over the river to the UFO on top of the SNP Bridge, and the view back at the castle and the old town from the far bank.
Back to the hotel
The walk ends back at your hotel.
