The excursion
What this day is
Bratislava and Budapest have more in common than most people expect. Both stand on the Danube, both were capitals of the Hungarian Kingdom, in Hungary, kings and queens were crowned in both, and the Hungarian Parliament sat in only these two cities.
It is a straight two-and-a-half-hour run down the motorway, and the day is built around a three-hour Grand City Tour with a local guide — one hour by coach, two on foot — with the evening left open for the thermal baths or the Parliament interior.
