The excursion

What this day is

Twenty minutes north of the capital the vineyards start, and this excursion is the straightforward way to show a group what is immediately outside Bratislava. The Small Carpathians run along the south-eastern slopes above Bratislava and are, after the Slovak part of the Tokaj region, the country’s most important wine area.

The day combines one of the best-preserved castles in Slovakia with the two towns that make the wine, a tasting in a cellar, and a walk through Svätý Jur on the way back. It works as a half-day for a group already doing the city, and it is short enough to put in front of an evening programme.

A similar route runs for individual travellers under our retail brand, Bratislava City Tours, as the Small Carpathian wine tour.
